Last year, I decided to join the boys’ basketball team at school. I wanted to play basketball so badly that I joined the boys’ basketball team. I was the only girl on the team. This year, I am in eighth grade, and there is still no girls’ team.
As I said in my introduction, last year, I joined the boys’ basketball team. The coach for the girls’ team was trying to make a team, but there wasn’t enough girls. I was very upset, I was looking forward to playing basketball. I have been playing basketball since fourth grade, and this year I would’ve been one of the older girls on the team. Multiple teachers saw how upset I was, our principal came up to me and said I could play on the boys’ team if I wanted. At first, I didn’t want to join, I didn’t think I was good at basketball. I talked to many people about whether I should joining the team or not, they all encouraged me to join. After everyone telling me to, I decided to join. You could not imagine how nervous I was.
This year, there is still no girls’ team. Once again, not enough girls signed up to play. This is my second year playing on the boys’ team. The boys’ practice is a lot different from what the girls’ practices used to be like. I am still not the greatest at basketball, but that is what practice is for. We actually have our first game today, November 17.
I am hoping that this year I will be a lot better than I was last year. When I started playing basketball, in fourth grade, I couldn’t even make a basket. Now, I am so much better. In conclusion, I didn’t care what team I was on, I just wanted to play basketball.
